Tinned
Fish Pasta

Tinned fish might not be your go-to pantry staple, but it should be! Tinned fish is loaded up with omega-3's and B vitamins, and this recipe is done in about the time it takes to boil pasta. Can be made with your favorite tinned fish, we have a wide selection in the market!

Serves: 4

Time to prepare: 20 minutes

Ingredients

 

Two 4oz tinned Mackerel, Sardines, or other!

4 cloves garlic, pressed or minced

2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 tbsp fresh lemon zest

2 tbsp capers

5 tbsp olive oil (plus more for drizzling)

1/4 cup chopped parsley

12oz linguine or spaghetti

3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs

salt, pepper, red pepper flake to taste

Instructions

STEP 1

Set a large pot of salted water to boil. 

​

STEP 2

Open tinned fish, remove from tins, and loosely pick apart filets with a fork into large chunks.

STEP 3

In a large sauté pan or dutch oven, place panko crumbs, 2tbsp of olive oil, and seasoning to taste. Heat, stirring often, until browned and crisp. Remove from pan, and set aside.

STEP 4

Add remaining olive oil, garlic, capers, lemon juice, lemon zest, and half of the chopped parsley to  pan, and sauté until fragrant. Add tinned fish and heat gently until warmed throughout. Season with salt, pepper and red pepper flake as desired.

STEP 5

Cook pasta according to package directions, and remove from boiling water with tongs, and add directly into pan with tinned fish mixture. Toss with remaining parsley, drizzle with olive oil, add to plates and top with breadcrumbs.
